Before camp begins, we’re excited to introduce campers to the variety of classes they can explore. Each course is designed to help you build practical skills, discover new creative interests, and learn from experienced instructors in a hands-on environment. Whether you’re passionate about storytelling, design, leadership, or media production, these classes give you the chance to dive deeper, try new tools, and grow your confidence while having an absolute blast!

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your creative skills, our Design course is built to support designers at every level. Students will explore the core principles and platforms that make designs effective while gaining hands-on experience creating print and digital media such as social graphics and flyers.
Throughout the course, participants will learn the fundamentals of strong design, including the elements of design, and how to develop cohesive style guides using color palettes and typography. The class also dives into design structure, covering grids, alignment, and content-driven design to help students create polished and professional layouts.
Beyond the basics, students will explore current trends in graphic design and pick up helpful tips for working in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The course also introduces advanced tools and workflow strategies that help designers work more efficiently and creatively.
Campers will get to observe industry professionals on a field to a creative headquarters like Hy-Vee and People Inc.
By the end of the course, students will walk away with stronger design skills, a portfolio ready content, and the confidence to elevate their creative work.
